How to play
Fox Kart Rally is a kart race for your Garmin watch. You see the track from behind your kart, the throttle is automatic, and you only steer: left or right. Each race is two laps; on every lap you drive through four gates in order, and the race ends when you cross the finish line after the second lap.
Bends push the kart outwards, so turn in early. Off the road the kart slows down, at the wall it slows down a lot, and hard steering at full speed costs a little pace. A calm line is usually faster than wild steering.
A 3-2-1 countdown starts every race. Pause stops everything; a short countdown follows when you continue.
Race modes
Everything starts in the Play menu, the cups and the time trial have their own entries.
- Training
- Practice without scoring on open tracks. The steering assist is yours to choose.
- Single race
- Four drivers (you, hare, badger, raccoon) with items on an open track. Your place counts in the statistics.
- Cups
- Woodland Cup and Summit Cup, three races each, 5 / 3 / 2 / 1 points for places 1 to 4. Ties are decided by wins, then second places, then the last race. The standing is saved, so you can continue a cup later.
- Time trial
- Alone on the track, no items, fixed steering assist, two laps against the clock. Your best time per track is saved and can go to the online leaderboard.
Items
Golden leaves on the track give you an item. You carry one item at a time and use it with the item key (START) or by tapping the item circle at the top of the screen.
- Turbo
- A strong boost for about 1.5 seconds.
- Leaf shield
- Blocks one hit.
- Pine cone
- Flies straight ahead along your lane and hits the kart in front of it.
- Mud patch
- Stays on the track behind you and slows down whoever drives through it.
Opponents
In single races and cups you race against three opponents. The hare takes the inside line and uses items at once, the badger holds the centre line and drives carefully in tight bends, the raccoon uses its items depending on the situation. The owl comments on the tournament in the story scenes.
Tracks and unlocking
There are six tracks in two cups: Pinewood Circuit, Meadow Sprint and Millbrook Run in the Woodland Cup; Canyon Loop, Frosty Pines and Sunset Summit in the Summit Cup.
The Pinewood Circuit and the Woodland Cup are open from the start. A track opens once you have raced it in a cup. Completing the Woodland Cup (any place counts) opens the Summit Cup; once both cups are complete every track is open and the story finale is shown. Winning the Summit Cup gives you the Golden Tail and the champion paint for your kart.
Online leaderboard
The time trial has an online leaderboard with one list per track: the lowest time wins, equal times share a rank. It is free and optional. In the game open Records, then Online leaderboard, and choose Join (pseudonym): you get an automatic player name such as Fox-Swift-4821, no account and no e-mail address are needed.
Every online run is recomputed by the server with the rules of the game, so only real times count. A time that cannot be uploaded right now stays on the watch as Upload pending and is sent later. Times that are too long for scoring stay local.
You can change your player name (the game shows a one-time code for our web page) or delete all your online data at once: Records, then Online leaderboard. The lists are also shown on this website.

Controls and watches
With keys: UP steers left and DOWN steers right (hold = continuous steering), START uses the item, BACK pauses. With a touchscreen: hold or drag the left or right half of the screen to steer, a tap steers for a short moment; tap the item circle at the top for the item and the pause button at the bottom right to pause.
The game runs on 64 Garmin watches with a colour display. Watches of the older Connect IQ 3 generation (for example fenix 5 / 6, Forerunner 245 / 645 / 745 / 945, vivoactive 3 / 4, original Venu) are not supported because the pictures do not fit into their memory. The game draws the kart in the size that fits the display, and every race plays offline; only the optional leaderboard needs your phone.
Tips
Turn in early and keep a smooth line: steering at full speed costs a little pace.
Pick up golden leaves even if they are slightly off your line, an item is worth more than a few metres.
Keep the turbo for the straight after a bend, the shield for the lap where the pack is close.
In the time trial there are no items - the best line wins. Watch your best lap in the Records.
